ROOMIES
UX PROCESSES
For this independent project, I developed Roomies—a house-sharing application designed specifically for young singles seeking compatible housemates. Drawing inspiration from the design of the dating app Tinder, Roomies is a profile-based matching application. Algorithmic pairing based on self-assessed data and consumer matching helps users find housemates that align with their preferences and lifestyle.
The application was built entirely using the low-code tool FlutterFlow, allowing for rapid development and scalability. Roomies has been developed to the extent of being ready for market launch, though it currently lacks funding and may not be published until resources are secured.
The app was rigorously tested for usability, and feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Users expressed strong interest in the concept, with all participants highlighting its unique value proposition. They agreed that it fills a gap in the market and would likely be used by the target audience of young singles looking for compatible living arrangements.

User Research & Persona Development:

-
Conducted user interviews and surveys to identify target users’ pain points in finding a housemate.
-
Created user personas representing different types of potential users (e.g., students, young professionals, etc.).
User Journey Mapping:

-
Mapped out the ideal user journey for individuals searching for a housemate.
-
Identified touchpoints, motivations, frustrations, and goals throughout the process.
Wireframes & Prototyping:

-
Developed low-fidelity wireframes to outline key features and user flows.
-
Created interactive prototypes using Figma to visualise the design.
Usability Testing:

-
Conducted usability testing with real users to validate design choices and gather feedback.
-
Iterated on design based on test findings to enhance the user experience.
